Patch it up

Halloween is upon us and as tradition goes we do it up right. This year I wasn't so sure I wanted to go all out and it ended up that we didn't, but it was still great. One of the best ways to get in the Halloween spirit is to head to a pumpkin patch. At least for us that was the trick. There is something about the fresh air, mud, apple cider, and pumpkins that really get you in the mood. The weather was pretty good we had a little bit of sunshine, but most importantly no rain! Both kids wanted tiny pumpkins, which we thought was cute and perfect. No carving necessary.


There was a petting zoo at the patch with goats who did tricks, and turkeys who gobble really loud. Kyle was not a fan of the turkey. Whenever it would gobble and fluff it's feathers up he would hide behind our legs and shake his finger at it. Lilly had fun going through the little hay maze and driving the boat that was in the middle of it.After the pumpkin patch and a nap we set the kids up so that they could paint their pumpkins. Lilly was very careful and kept hers neat and tidy and Kyle made his colorful and painted with lots of enthusiasm. We let them pain ours too since they were having such a good time and they all turned out really beautiful.

For Halloween this year it was freezing! We weren't sure how to keep the kids warm but still show off their costumes and really there was no good way but I still love how their costumes turned out. Kyle was Clark Kent and Lilly was a cotton candy vendor. I was a little worried about her costume since I made it myself, but she got so many compliments on it and won a best costume of the night at our ward trunk or treat. The kids got lots of candy and had fun getting to dress up.
